I am an on-location, natural light photographer who specializes in newborns, kids, and families. Servicing the SW Washington and Portland, OR areas, I strive to capture candid emotion and the story of your family during every session. I have a distinctive style of wedding and portrait photography that allows me to help direct my clients in a way to capture the emotion and feel of photojournalism. Shooting with a candid style is my favorite part of every session as it allows me to step back and enjoy your family while capturing your story on film.
From baby bumps and tiny wrinkly toes to walking on dad’s feet and holding mom’s hand, I want to capture those fleeting moments to cherish forever. That is why I have the best job in the world, helping you remember those simple joys. Helping preserve those moments in time where you’re still the greatest and most important person in your children’s life.
I want to capture not only images of you, your newest addition, or your entire family but to capture your interactions with each other, your different characteristics, and ways you show your love.
I started Take 5 Photography in 2005 on the heels of a photography internship with Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL. During my time at Disney, I saw how much they instilled customer service into every aspect of their business. Disney cast members are trained to create “Magical Moments” and to “Take 5” to put that extra time and effort into the guest experience. That’s what I wanted to bring to my business — the fact that I will always take the time to give my clients a fun and laid-back photo session experience. I will never look at my watch or hurry things along. Photography should never be rushed; I will make sure to take the time to get it right and we will get to have more fun in the process!
My husband and I had our first child in March of 2012. People kept telling me when Jackson was a newborn that time is going to FLY by. I always shook my head…yeah yeah…
Now 4 years and another baby later and I am overwhelmed with the realization of how right they were! They (of course) were very well photographed, and I love looking back and remembering that Jack had a toe that was a little crooked, a small angel kiss spot in the middle of his forehead, and Lainey had the most amazing dimples 🙂
I will forever cherish that fleeting time and I want to be able to do the same for your family. Before butterfly kisses become fist bumps and holding her hand to cross the street becomes handing her the keys to her first car.
I’m primarily a natural light photographer and I usually try to schedule photo sessions during that magical last hour or so before the sun goes down.
While based out of Battle Ground in Washington state, I’m happy to travel to you! Send me a note, I’d love to chat with you!
